Los Libros que se lanzarán de "Prince of Persia"

Prince of Persia: Las arenas del tiempo (2010)

La película basada en Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time se estima que llegará a los cines de todo el mundo en mayo del 2010. El papel del príncipe fue adjudicado al actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
Estará dirigida por Mike Newell, responsable de Harry Potter y El Cáliz de Fuego; y escrita por el creador del juego original de 1989, Jordan Mechner, que está trabajando conjuntamente con el guionista de El Día de Mañana. Bajo la producción de Jerry Bruckheimer –Piratas del Caribe y La Roca entre otros “taquillazos”-, y Walt Disney Pictures, Jerry Bruckheimer se muestra muy optimista.

El proceso de convencer a un estudio, sin embargo, no fue sencillo, y obligó a Mechner a mostrar a Disney un trailer para convencerles. “Utilizamos material de los videojuegos” señaló Mechner al referirse al empleo de imágenes in-game de la trilogía Las Arenas del Tiempo montadas de una forma concreta para contar una historia. “Se lo enseñamos a la gente de Disney y les encantó, escribí el primer guión en tres meses, y pasé los 18 siguientes revisándolo”.
El guión se basa en que el príncipe deberá salvar la destrucción del mundo por una descomunal tormenta de arena. Aunque también es muy posible que la película tenga un argumento más apegado al del juego, que es lo que todos los fans de la historia esperan, y de no ser así, la película no tendrá el mismo impacto que el juego. Se confirmó que Mike Newell será el director de esta película.

El rodaje de la película empezará en junio del 2009, en lo cual se han encontrado imágenes del rodaje en algún desierto de Arabia.

Ya Disponible el Libro de Arte de "Prince of Persia"

This is a large coffee table book printed with really good quality paper, the thick low-gloss type, which is a surprise for the affordable price.
The first thing that catches my attention is the use of beautiful high resolution photos, some of which are taken by producer Jerry Bruckheimer. They are so huge you can check out all the details of the costume tapestry and elaborate set designs. If it's really that hot shooting in the Moroccan heat, it's not showing up in the photos because I can't see anyone sweating.
The writeup is filled with information on all aspect of the movie, from casting actors, creating the humongous sets, shooting at 8000 feet in Morocco, weaving costumes, training ostriches, to clearing dangerous snakes and scorpions before day shoots. It's interesting to read those incidents that happen behind the scenes.
There are also parts where they reveal certain items, like weapons, to pay homage to the game series. But there's not so much reference to the game as the movie isn't really a direct translation of the game. The reference part I guess would be the atmosphere and setting which was really well portrayed to make this feel like a Prince of Persia world.
The last thing I want to add is the excessive compliments in some cases, especially for Jerry Bruckheimer. I like his films and TV shows but the compliments can be at times a bit, to put it politely, thick.
It's a nice book that fans can look to if they want to know more about the movie production.
